WorkVision Consulting Anti-Racism & Equity Statement

WorkVision Consulting values equitable and anti-racist systems. We value contributions from all backgrounds and cultures. Recognizing that systems in the United States are founded on genocide, chattel slavery, and racism, WorkVision Consulting will actively work to dismantle systems that uphold white supremacy and patriarchy in sectors where we have the power to do so. We strive to build systems with the core values of bringing diversity, equity, and inclusivity to all.

What actions do we take to support diversity, equity, inclusion, and anti-racism?

1. We pay our contributors

Beginning April 2021, we have paid webinar and blog guests. If someone chooses not to accept payment we offer to donate to a charity of their choice or contribute their portion towards another contributor. Our budget is small, but we hope to increase it as we grow. We believe all people, but especially BIPOC and other underrepresented creators deserve to be paid for their work especially when DE&I work often goes unpaid or underpaid.

2. We support organizations that advocate for and support racially underrepresented groups

We proudly stand behind and give to the following organizations and will continue to expand our support as our budget grows:

3. We serve clients with diverse backgrounds

Over 40% of our clients have Founders who are women or are from racially underrepresented groups. We strive to expand our client base to continue working with a diverse range of businesses and provide DE&I services to all.

4. Our partners are from diverse backgrounds

Since we value diversity, equity, and inclusivity, we hire and refer clients to a variety of talented people. This includes creators, attorneys, brokers, and other consultants. Our list of partners includes women, racially underrepresented folks, and people from queer and disabled communities. Reach out if you need a referral.

We reject the scarcity mindset and partner with other DE&I professionals who provide similar services to us because we know there is enough work out there for all of us and we believe we can be better when we work together.

One of our partnerships is with Ablr, a company focused on disability inclusion and digital accessibility. They have an excellent digital course (I’m not just saying that because we are an affiliate, it’s super awesome!) If you’re interested in their course, check it out here.

5. Our events are safe spaces

We have a zero tolerance for harassment, discrimination, micro-aggressions, bullying, and hateful language at any of the events we host including but not limited to webinars, happy hours, & trainings. If we see this behavior we will address it and remove offenders immediately. If we miss something, please notify us and we will investigate and address any inappropriate behaviors. We believe in cultivating safe spaces free of harassment, discrimination, and hate.

Our events generally have ground rules that look something like this:

  • Be Respectful (no spam, hateful language, etc.)

  • Be Open

  • Acknowledge Your Privilege

  • Always Keep Learning—No one knows everything but together we know a lot

6. Our hiring process supports a wide range of candidates

As we look at future hiring we will source from a diverse pool of candidates. Our hiring process will support underrepresented candidates in a variety of ways, including but not limited to:

  • Not excluding candidates for lack of formal education or specific years of experience

  • Focusing on skills & deliverables

  • Removing bias by adding quantifiable metrics

  • Not hiring for “fit”

We also commit to hiring W2 employees instead of 1099 contractors when a role is the primary function of our business.

7. We love education! (Not only for others but also ourselves)

We learn from a diverse group of people including purchasing books and courses from people from all backgrounds. We especially enjoyed the Anti-Racism for DEI course by Anti-Racism Daily and the Book Authentic Diversity by Michelle Silverthorn. We recently pre-ordered Michelle Mijung Kim’s book The Wake Up, and can’t wait to get into it!

Our overall goal as a company is to dismantle systemic oppression and white supremacy. We aim to do that both by our small actions as a company and by working with clients on DE&I strategy, training, and pay equity.

We believe one of the best places to start is within the workplace. We aim to bring our work vision of diversity, equity, and inclusion into many business sectors. All of these efforts are ongoing and a continued work in progress, we are learning everyday.
